Dropdown attachments for glass bongs generally serve two purposes. A dropdown attaches onto the joint of a bong so that the user can light the bowl with a torch without directly exposing the bong's joint to high heat. Thus, preventing the joint on the bong from breaking due to high temperatures. Dropdowns also serve the purpose of being an extension for the joint on a glass bong. This allows the bowl to sit further away from the user's face. So when the bowl is lit, heat is kept away from the user's face. Dropdowns are made to be lightweight enough so that it doesn't throw off the balance of a rig. However, they generally work better with medium-size to large rigs. As pictured.
